This 100 year old bedroom was dark and uninviting... covered in avocado wallpaper and carpet with heavy dark green velvet curtains.
The wallpaper was painted white, then a light pink oil wash was applied. Hand painted roses were added as accents, mimicining the new floral carpet. The green trim was changed to pink and simple sheers let the light back into the room.
A 6 x 6 foot entry airlock was covered in a 70's wallpaper.
The room was painted to a period color, and a mural -- inspired by the Pewabic tile fireplace in the next room -- is used to make the entry more inviting and to tie in the airlock.
This small bath had a dark green wallpaper with thin white vertical stripes above the wainscot paneling. And the floor was covered in a matching dark green carpet.
The paper was removed and the wall were painted a green base coat. Then a darker green oild wash was applied. While the wash was still somewhat wet, Jill "erased" it to create the pattern show below.
